Dubai International Airport (DXB), the globe’s busiest airport for international passengers, has announced a temporary suspension of its internal train service. Passengers traveling between Terminal 1 and the D Gates will now have to take a bus instead of the airport train.
This announcement, posted late on April 24 through DXB’s official handle on X (formerly Twitter), states that the airport train is temporarily out of operation because of a sudden technical glitch. The airport has designated this as a “temporary disruption” and assured that their staff is working swiftly to resume the train service.
Meanwhile, DXB has a shuttle bus service to transport passengers between Terminal 1 and the D Gates. Passengers have been requested by the airport management to build in additional time into their journeys, as it may take longer than the standard train trip.
Notably, only those traveling between Terminal 1 and D Gates are disrupted by this. The other inter-terminal transport modes in the airport continue to function in full capacity. Furthermore, Dubai Metro operations in and out of Terminals 1 and 3 continue in their normal ways.
The airport issued a public apology for the cause of inconvenience and expressed gratitude towards the passengers for their understanding and patience during that time. On their official release, they quoted: “We are currently making arrangements for travel between Terminal 1 and D Gates by means of bus transfer as a temporary replacement for airport train. We are trying our best to set this right ASAP and apologise for the inconvenience.
As DXB remains the world’s busiest international airport—ranking number one for 11 consecutive years—the smooth and efficient running of the airport is paramount. Any small hiccup such as this can affect thousands of passengers every day, so the airport is under pressure to sort out the issue quickly.
If you have a flight out of Dubai in the near future and your travel path involves Terminal 1 and the D Gates, it’s advisable to check live updates and factor in some extra travel time within the airport.
